The Drum Horse breed was inspired by the strong, placid horses used to carry kettle drums and a rider in British Royal Pageantry. Over the years a variety of draught horses have been used for the purpose, but in recent years the feathered breeds seem to have been the most popular. A lot were probably Shires or Clydesdales, as coloured horses of these breeds were not that uncommon.

The Drum Horse in the USA is a combination of Gypsy, Shire or Clydesdale.

Drum Horses are ideal for someone wanting all the characteristics of a Gypsy horse is a taller & stronger package.
